Mark Sanchez to N.Y. Jets fans: 'Good things to come'

Tim Tebow chose to steer clear of the New York Jets' locker room on "baggie day." We can't say we blame him.

Tebow really gains nothing from discussing his lost season in New York any further. It's time to move on, and Tebow surely is counting down the minutes until he's up on a podium wearing the hat of a different NFL team.

Unlike Tebow, quarterback Mark Sanchez actually might have a future with the Jets. On the day the team fired the general manager responsible for drafting him, Sanchez put a positive spin on the prospect of a continued relationship with coach Rex Ryan.

"We had a lot of wins together," Sanchez said of Ryan, "and I know there's plenty more to come."

Sanchez also had a message for Jets fans.

"Just hang in there. They've been through tougher times than this," he said, via The New York Daily News. "There's good things to come and on the horizon."

He's right about that first part. Jets fans have been through worse (lest we forget the 4-28 Rich Kotite era). As for Sanchez, he certainly sounds like a guy who believes he'll be part of the plan to get Gang Green back to the playoffs.

Whether or not it actually plays out that way remains to be seen.
