Owen Daniels ailing, misses Houston Texans practice

Houston Texans tight end Owen Daniels missed practice Thursday with a hamstring injury, but the team maintains he'll be ready for Sunday's critical game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Tania Ganguli of the Houston Chronicle reported Daniels was held out of Thursday's session after being limited Wednesday. Texans coach Gary Kubiak didn't appear concerned.

"What's wrong with Owen? Owen's fine. He's got a sore hamstring," Kubiak said.

We'll take his word for it. Kubiak also hinted that linebacker Brooks Reed (groin) would play "more snaps than he played" in a Week 16 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Any help the Texans can get at linebacker will be welcomed.

The Texans are still fighting for a playoff bye in the AFC.

A win over the Colts would secure the top seed. Losing Sunday's finale might be deadly, because the Denver Broncos and even the New England Patriots could drop Houston into the third seed if both teams win and the Texans fall to Andrew Luck and friends.
