Zimmer was arrested after failing sobriety tests and charged with DUI, according to a police report. He was released early Monday morning after posting $500 bond. He was the only occupant in the vehicle at the time of the crash and was not injured. No other vehicles were involved, police said.

The arrest came hours after the Chiefs' loss to the Indianapolis Colts.

Zimmer, the son of Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer, is a defensive assistant and assistant with the Chiefs.

Chiefs coach Romeo Crennell said Monday he was aware of Zimmer's arrest, and wouldn't say if Zimmer would coach Sunday in the team's season finale against the Denver Broncos.

"That is being investigated and we don't have all the facts about that," Crennel said during a news conference Monday. "We'll gather the facts as well as the NFL and we'll see where that leads us.

"We don't condone DUIs. That's not the right thing to do. Everybody knows that educating people about the hazards of driving under the influence is really what . . . needs to get done. You do that to the best of your ability and then people have to make their choices."
