Do Eagles, Panthers want Chip Kelly as next coach?

With NCAA sanctions possibly coming for the University of Oregon, this might be the year that coach Chip Kelly makes the jump to the NFL. He won't lack for suitors.

NFL.com's Albert Breer reported Friday on NFL Network's "Around the League" that Kelly is expected to have multiple suitors, including the Philadelphia Eagles and Carolina Panthers as "likely" options. (That's if Ron Rivera loses his job.) Panthers fans can start drooling now thinking about Kelly and Cam Newton together.

Breer also reported that Northwestern's Pat Fitzgerald, Washington's Steve Sarkisian and Syracuse's Doug Marrone also could receive some NFL interest. Sarkisian and Fitzgerald both turned down interviews in St. Louis last year.

Perhaps Greg Schiano's success this year has opened the door for more college coaches to get chances.

Breer also reported that New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels could wind up landing the head-coaching job in San Diego and that his interest in the Cleveland Browns' job has been overstated. Yes, it's coaching rumor season. We're just getting started.
