Jets coach Rex Ryan told reporters Saturday he remains optimistic Edwards will play Monday night despite a lingering hamstring issue. Ryan couldn't say how much action Edwards will see against the Tennessee Titans.
"We're not going to put specific play numbers on him, or whatever, we'll just see how he progresses," Ryan said. "Right now, I feel like he's getting better each day. So again, I think Monday night he'll definitely get to play. We'll see how much.
"I believe he will play."
Ryan also provided an update on Tim Tebow, who has been limited with fractured ribs for the past several weeks.
"I feel good about him," Ryan said. "I think he practiced well again (Saturday), so he looks good and he'll be ready to go on Monday."
With Tebow getting healthy, it remains to be seen if the Jets plan to go back to the maligned Wildcat package. The scheme has been a bust, but the Jets are unlikely to limit themselves as they explore ways to move the ball without putting too much on quarterback Mark Sanchez.
