At the tail end of a fourth-quarter scramble by Griffin, Ngata lowered his shoulder and belted the rookie quarterback. Griffin sprained his knee on the play and eventually was forced to exit the game, which the Redskins won in overtime.
Ngata told The Baltimore Sun on Thursday he believed it was a clean hit.
While Ngata appears to have avoided the FedEx package, others weren't so lucky. Here's a roundup of the Week 14 fines by the NFL:
>> Dallas Cowboys linebacker Ernie Sims was fined $15,750 for an unnecessary roughness penalty during last week's 20-19 win at Cincinnati. Sims hit Bengals wide receiver Marvin Jones, striking "a defenseless receiver in the head and neck area," according to the league.
>> New York Jets rookie defensive lineman Quinton Coples was fined $15,000 for grabbing the facemask of Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Chad Henne. Coples was called for a penalty when Henne scrambled for 1 yard on a third-and-3 play last Sunday. The play extended a drive in which the Jaguars later scored in the Jets' 17-10 victory.
