Brandon Jacobs inactive for San Francisco 49ers

Breer: A position of strength

San Francisco 49ers running back Brandon Jacobs and wide receiver Mario Manningham are inactive for Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins, meaning a pair of rookies will likely see their first NFL action.

LaMichael James and A.J. Jenkins, the 49ers' first two 2012 draft picks, are active. It's the first time James has been in uniform this season, while Jenkins has dressed twice but has yet to play a snap.

Manningham is dealing with a shoulder injury. However, Jacobs, who appears to be healthy, recently went on an Instagram rant in which he expressed his unhappiness with the 49ers, calling this season "by far the worst year I ever had."
