Fairley was stopped by police April 3, the Detroit Free Press reported, and his car was searched after the arresting officer smelled marijuana. Two hand-rolled marijuana cigarettes were found, but a passenger, Eric Taylor, took responsibility. Fairley passed regular drug tests administered by the NFL since he was arrested. Prosecutors asked for charges to be dropped after Fairley passed a drug test Tuesday.
Fairley has improved drastically as a second-year pro. He has 4.5 sacks, 30 tackles and a forced fumble.
Fairley is also appealing a six-month suspended jail term, one year of probation and a $600 fine from a driving under the influence of alcohol charge on May 27 in Mobile.
