Michael Vick fails concussion test, likely out for Eagles

Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid hinted all week that rookie quarterback Nick Foles would make his third NFL start this Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys. That's all but certain now.

Michael Vick through the years

Take a look back at Michael Vick's career.

Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reported Thursday that Michael Vick failed to reach the baseline status on his Wednesday ImPACT test, meaning the concussion that has sidelined him for two consecutive weeks will prevent him from suiting up against the Cowboys, according to the report.

The Eagles announced the results of the test Thursday.

It's unlikely the Eagles would have played Vick even had he passed the test. Reid and his coaching staff haven't shut their starter down for the season, but this sinking team is doing what it can to look to the future.

Jason Babin was released this week to give the younger players time on defense, and Foles likely will see plenty of action down the stretch.

Nothing surprises us about the Eagles anymore. We might see Vick again this season, but the writing is on the wall: He's unlikely to be with the team in 2013 -- not with that $15.5 million price tag -- and he already might have played his last game with the team.
