Matt Forte injures ankle; Chicago Bears hobbled in win

The Chicago Bears' offense looked better in Week 12, but a spate of injuries could become big concerns in future weeks.

Matt Forte limped to the locker room with an ankle injury that he suffered during the third quarter of Sunday's 28-10 win over the Minnesota Vikings. The running back did not return.

Forte appeared to lose a fumble that the Vikings returned for a score, but the officials overturned the play, saying the running back's knee was down before the ball came out. The Bears have good running back depth with Michael Bush and Armando Allen behind Forte.

Starting guards Lance Louis and Chris Spencer also left the game with injuries, forcing recently benched tackle Gabe Carimi to play at guard. Wide receiver Devin Hester suffered a concussion and was ruled out, and cornerback Charles Tillman struggled with an ankle injury. Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times also reported that linebacker Lance Briggs left the stadium wearing a walking boot. That's six Bears starters who were hurt.

The Bears tried to compensate for their offensive line woes by running more Sunday, to mixed results. They recently placed Chilo Rachal on the reserve/non-football injury list after he left the team. Rachal returned, but the Bears decided they didn't want him. They might regret that decision now.
