No matter where the Washington Redskins go from here, their fans can feel good about the season. They found a franchise quarterback. And they are so much better than the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Redskins rolled over the Eagles 31-6 at home in a battle of rookie quarterbacks that could have been called a technical knockout shortly after halftime.
Robert Griffin III had only one incompletion on 15 attempts, and he threw for four touchdowns, too. He also was the leading rusher in the game with 84 yards, often picking up third-down conversions with his legs.
Eagles rookie Nick Foles, on the other hand, threw two interceptions and fumbled three times. One of the interceptions came off a dropped pass, and Foles did a few nice things, but ultimately he reacted to pass pressure in a similar fashion to injured quarterback Michael Vick. Foles was sacked four times and hit seven more times, and he averaged just 4.4 yards per pass attempt.
It sounds strange to say, but the Redskins' offense wasn't even in sync for most of the day. Only one of their first eight drives went more than 30 yards before Griffin connected a 61-yard bomb to Santana Moss (unreal play by Moss.)
At 4-6, the Redskins can sneak back into the NFC East race with a win on Thanksgiving Day against the Dallas Cowboys. So much for evaluating for next year.
