Robert Meachem, Eddie Royal don't play for Chargers

If Norv Turner is coaching for his job, he isn't being helped by injuries. The San Diego Chargers were without receivers Robert Meachem and Eddie Royal in a 31-13 win over the the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday night. Both were inactive with hamstring injuries.

Schein: Playing Mr. Fix-It

Adam Schein knows what's wrong with the Chargers. He also knows how to save them and eight other troubled teams. **More ...**

Seyi Ajirotutu was signed Tuesday and will likely see plenty of action. Danario Alexander is scheduled to start, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported. Alexander has only played one game this year and does not have a reception.

The Chargers were already struggling with the No. 21 passing offense. Meachem and Royal hadn't exactly lit the world on fire, but at least they have proven careers.

I'd tell fantasy owners of tight end Antonio Gates to get excited at the prospect of more opportunities, but Gates has been a huge disappointment thus far. He has 21 receptions for 238 yards and two touchdowns, and just hasn't gotten the separation that he has in the past. The Chargers' receivers have played below average in 2012, and quarterback Philip Rivers will be even more challenged tonight.

One thing working in the Chargers' favor in light of all of this -- the Chiefs aren't a very good football team.
