Don't ignore the matchup of first-round pass rushers.

While Chandler Jones looks like an NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year candidate in New England, Quinton Coples has struggled to get on the field in New York. The Jets took Coples five spots ahead of Jones. But it might not have happened that way if Jets coach Rex Ryan got his wish.

Shalise Manza Young of the Boston Globe reported that Ryan told Jones the Jets would draft him. But Rex was overruled. Jones would only disclose that the Jets showed "a lot of interest" in him.

In past matchups, the Jets' defense clearly was superior. We'd still say they are better, but it's not hard to argue that the Patriots currently possess a better pass rush. Jones is the biggest reason why.
