Detroit Lions running back Javhid Best knows he's the "poster boy" for concussions in the NFL. He hopes to soon remind people he's a good football player, too.
Best expressed optimism Thursday about being cleared for action this week. He took a battery of concussion tests and will get the results Friday.
Longtime Lions beat writer Mike O'Hara, now writing for DetroitLions.com, says he'd be "shocked" if Best isn't cleared to practice next week and face the Bears on "Monday Night Football" in Week 7. O'Hara says Best is "likely" to return.
We've heard optimism about Best before. The Lions said all summer he'd be cleared for training camp, and it didn't happen. We'll find out before the weekend if Best's one-year absence from the game finally will end.
