Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said Monday that Polamalu has been ruled out for Thursday night's matchup against the Tennessee Titans after re-aggravating his right calf injury in a 16-14 win over the Philadelphia Eagles, according to the Associated Press.

Polamalu returned to the lineup Sunday after he missed the previous two games with the calf injury originally suffered in a January playoff loss to the Denver Broncos. He limped off the field against the Eagles in the first half. It's certainly a discouraging sign that the injury continues to haunt the safety nine months later.

The Steelers are on a short week, a reality that will likely also cost them the services of linebacker LaMarr Woodley, who suffered a "mild" hamstring injury against the Eagles. Tomlin didn't rule Woodley out, and said the team will "leave the door ajar."

Tomlin had better reports on linebacker James Harrison and running back Rashard Mendenhall, who came out of their season debuts healthy. Tomlin said Harrison had some swelling on his knee, but is otherwise fine.
