Mike Shanahan gave Washington Redskins kicker Billy Cundiff a vote of confidence last week by not exploring other options following Cundiff's 1-for-4 kicking day against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
After Cundiff missed his second 31-yard gimme in as many Sundays, don't expect Shanahan to have the same level of patience.
"I'm disappointed, especially when it's a chip shot in there," Shanahan said after a 24-17 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, via The Washington Post. "What was it, the 13-yard line? Something in that range. That's always disappointing when you have a chance to get a little momentum going, especially at that time of the game."

Shanhan said Sunday night that he hadn't decided if he was going to bring in competition after Cundiff's latest struggles.
Had Cundiff converted his first attempt of the game, the Redskins would've jumped out to a 10-0 lead late in the first half. Instead, the Falcons took over and marched down the field to tie the game. Cundiff was booed by the home fans when he re-emerged from the locker room to practice kicks before the start of the third quarter.
"It'd be much easier to keep it brief," Cundiff said of the miss. "I don't see any reason to go into extreme detail. It was just a miss. I think it's a kick I should make. It was a makeable kick. I just didn't hit it."
Cundiff had a chance for a fresh start after his memorable missed kick late in January's AFC title game with the Baltimore Ravens. Now he has new baggage with a different team.
These things usually don't end well for men of this profession.
UPDATE: CBSSports.com's Jason La Canfora reported the Redskins were working out kickers Olindo Mare, Josh Brown and Kai Forbath on Monday.
