Hakeem Nicks out another game for New York Giants

All offseason, we wondered if New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks would be ready to play in Week 1 after undergoing foot surgery in the offseason. He made it back, but now a troublesome knee injury is slowing down his season.

Giants coach Tom Coughlin announced Thursday that Nicks will miss Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns. Nicks hasn't played since dropping 199 yards on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2.

New York could be very thin at wide receiver this week because Ramses Barden continued to miss practice after suffering a concussion last week. His status remains uncertain.

The Giants will look for second-round draft pick Reuben Randle to step up this week with Nicks out. Randle has been criticized for his work ethic, but he chalks it up to normal "rookie struggles." Quarterback Eli Manning hopes Randle grows up soon.
