"Two people who know (owner Woody) Johnson, and know how he runs his football operation, believe he will push his football people to start Tebow," Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com wrote Tuesday. "Let's be clear: There's no evidence to suggest this is happening, but only a naïve person would think this owner won't get involved if the product on the field continues to disappoint."
Cimini cites 2008, when Johnson pushed to acquire Brett Favre. We heard buzz during that same season Johnson went as far as to ask the team's coaching staff to let Favre pass more instead of focusing on the run. This isn't an owner who always has stayed out of football operations
Johnson's support of Mark Sanchez has become less unequivocal. Playing Tebow is "a question that will be asked more frequently if this progresses because this is unacceptable playing," Johnson told Bloomberg earlier this week.
This is what the Jets invited when they brought in Tebow. They wanted it. It soon might be time for their fans to just embrace the change because it feels inevitable.
