Reports: Ryan Mundy fined $21K for Heyward-Bey hit

Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Mundy delivered one of the meanest hits of the season Sunday, and now he's going to pay for it.

Mundy has been fined $21,000 by the NFL for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Oakland Raiders wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey, according to the San Francisco Chronicle and ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Heyward-Bey was belted by Mundy as he tried to haul in a Carson Palmer pass in the end zone early in the fourth quarter of Oakland's 34-31 win. There was no flag on the play, but Heyward-Bey was stabilized and carted off the field with a neck injury and concussion symptoms.

Heyward-Bey spent nearly 24 hours in an area hospital before being released Tuesday. Raiders coach Dennis Allen said Heyward-Bey was at team headquarters Wednesday, going through "concussion testing," according to CBSSports.com.
