Detroit Lions cornerback Chris Houston participated during the portion of practice open to the media Wednesday, according to DetroitLions.com's Tim Twentyman. Houston missed the Lions' season-opening 27-23 win over the St. Louis Rams with an ankle injury.
The Lions might have survived a Rams receiving corps led by Danny Amendola without their No. 1 cover man, but the San Francisco 49ers present a difference challenge. San Francisco runs out a group that includes Michael Crabtree, Randy Moss, Mario Manningham and tight end Vernon Davis.
The Lions also kicked off the season without safety Louis Delmas and rookie corner Bill Bentley suffered a concussion after getting the start Sunday.
"I don't know how you'd classify it, because a concussion is a concussion, but he's doing really well," Lions coach Jim Schwartz told MLive.com. "Yes, he has to pass a protocol to be back. That's an objective thing. That's not a subjective, 'Well, we think he's doing fine.' He has some hurdles he needs to cross, but we're optimistic."Follow Kareem Copeland on Twitter @kareemcopeland.
