Washington Redskins
2011 record: 5-11 (Fourth in NFC East)

Fearless Forecast

  • Bucky Brooks

The Redskins have certainly upgraded the perimeter players in the passing game, but Mike Shanahan’s tailoring of the offense around RG3’s strengths will be critical to the Redskins' playoff push.
Prediction: 7-9, fourth in NFC East

  • Daniel Jeremiah

RG3 is a perfect fit in Kyle Shanahan’s offense and he should provide a lot of excitement this season. My concern is the secondary. They don’t have the talent to match up with the top receivers inside the division.
Prediction: 6-10, fourth in NFC East

  • Adam Schein

Brighter days are ahead with Robert Griffin III.
Prediction: 7-9, fourth in NFC East

  • Steve Wyche

The defense is stout with Ryan Kerrigan and Brian Orakpo forming a strong outside linebacker tandem. RG3 makes the Redskins competitive but they're still a year away.
Prediction: 8-8, third in NFC East

In The Spotlight
Pierre Garcon | #88 | WR

The Redskins need to get Robert Griffin III started right, which made the aggressive move for Garcon so appropriate at the start of free agency. Washington didn’t have a single receiver eclipse 1,000 yards last season. Although Garcon has yet to surpass that same mark during his career, this new partnership should be the answer for both parties involved.

3 Pivotal Games
Week 1 at Saints
It might be unfair to gauge RG3’s professional ability based on a game this challenging -- in an environment this loud -- out of the gates. But the second overall draft pick can immediately set a tone for the season with a strong showing.
Week 7 at Giants
The Redskins don’t open their divisional schedule until near the midway point, so there will be no excuses against the Super Bowl champs. After a sweep against the Giants last year, Washington at least has every reason to believe it can keep up with the big dogs of the division.
Week 12 at Cowboys
RG3 is made for the spotlight -- and this will be his brightest one yet. A Thanksgiving Day clash against the Redskins' hated rival should make for some fun viewing for a national TV audience. It's also a huge opportunity for Griffin to prove his worth.
