This season has picked up where those campaigns left off.
Massaquoi exited Friday night's preseason-opening 19-17 victory over the Detroit Lions with a head injury after he caught Brandon's Weeden's first NFL pass in the first quarter, Mary Kay Cabot of The Plain Dealer reported.
This year is much closer to Massaquoi's final chance in Cleveland. The 2009 second-round draft pick has failed to develop into a No. 1 wideout, and he pulled in a career-low 31 passes for 384 yards in 13 starts in 2011. He suffered a string of concussion-related symptoms last season and was the subject of a brutal 2010 hit from Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison.
Friday's game wasn't a promising opening act for Massaquoi, but it was one that should concern the Browns.
