Report: Joe Banner will become Cleveland Browns president

Former Philadelphia Eagles president Joe Banner will assume the same role with the Cleveland Browns, possibly spelling the end of Mike Holmgren and Tom Heckert in Cleveland, two league sources told CBSsports.com on Thursday.

NFL Network learned earlier that Banner would be part of new owner Jimmy Haslam's executive management team, but Banner's exact role has yet to be announced.

One source told CBSsports.com that Haslam will "blow (the) whole place up" in reference to the Browns' front office. Browns president Holmgren and general manager Heckert probably will be fired, the report said.

Haslam told The Plain Dealer on Thursday evening that he has spoken with Banner, but he would not confirm that Banner had agreed to come aboard.

Haslam, a minority owner of the archrival Pittsburgh Steelers and a Tennessee truck-stop mogul, is expected to assume full control of the Browns by October.
