NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Vilma was placed on the reserve/suspended list by the Saints, a source with knowledge of the move said. This is nothing more than a procedural move by the organization. It opens up a roster spot for the Saints to use elsewhere.

The team would surely love to somehow have Vilma available, but Goodell has spoken clearly on this matter. Vilma's appeal was rejected. There's not much left for the Saints to do other than move forward with Curtis Lofton in the middle of their defense at linebacker.
