We suppose it's a better pre-training camp activity than, you know, getting arrested, but Asante Samuel's decision Tuesday to take on the Philadelphia Eagles' fan base was ... curious.
Samuel was traded to the Atlanta Falcons in March after four seasons in Philadelphia. After a follower wondered why the Eagles traded him, Samuel couldn't help himself.
Last time I played against the Eagles I had two interceptions and 1 for a TD. ?#justsaying? What was they thinking!

(Samuel is referring to a Nov. 25, 2007, game against the Eagles in his final season with the New England Patriots. The Pats won, 28-21, to remain undefeated.)
As you might expect, Samuel's tweet was met with plenty of vitriol from the always rational and clear-minded Iggles fan base. Samuel responded by doubling down.
Who wins in a bird fight a Falcon or Eagle? ?#riseup

I need some more Falcon followers to get these Eagle's off my back. They going hard! But they will turn on them like they always do.

Things got more uncomfortable from there.
So if the Eagles don't have a winning season y'all not going to turn on them???
- Asante Samuel (@pick_six22) July 17, 2012
Just make sure yall booo me when I step on the field so I can get it crackin out there. ?#neverscared

After some more measured discourse, Samuel backed off.
Don't yall get it. Its like 7 days until camp. I'm getting mentally ready for the season. ?#getoutyafeelings

Yall never turned on me. You guys loved me to death.

Fragile peace restored, a nation holds its collective breath.
