Nick Fairley on Saturday met with reporters for the first time since being arrested twice in the span of a month.
The Detroit Lions defensive tackle was charged with possession of marijuana in April and, in May, driving under the influence and attempting to elude police. In June, Fairley stayed out of trouble.Â
On Saturday, he told the Detroit Free Press, at his first-annual charity kickball tournament for kids, that parents should have no concerns about his ability to mentor their children.

"Because I'm a great guy," Fairley said. "Simple as that."
Fairley is among a maze of Lions players arrested this offseason. Johnny Culbreath was arrested once and Mikel Leshoure twice for marijuana possession. Aaron Berry last month was booked for DUI and hit-and-run.
"I haven't turned my back on none of my friends," Fairley said. "I'm still friends with everybody that I've been friends with. Like I said, just surrounding myself with better persons, people that got my best interests at heart: people in the locker, players just picking me up."
