Former San Francisco 49ers director of football administration Terry Tumey was appointed athletic director at UC Davis on Thursday.
Tumey got a congratulatory tweet from San Francisco 49ers CEO Jed York:

"The most important thing is that we continue to have both academic and athletic excellence throughout this program," Tumey told the Sacramento Bee. "It's really all about the people, the student-athletes and the coaches, and supporting them in the proper manner.
Tumey, who started with the 49ers as a personnel assistant in 2001, left the 49ers in 2009 to become athletic director at Dominican University of California in San Rafael, where he's been since.
He is expected to take his new post on Aug. 1.
