Santa Clara County Sheriff Sgt. Jose Cardoza confirmed that deputies responded to a 911 call from a large party with reports of noise and possible gunshots. Deputies encountered two persons who had been shot and one person who had been stabbed at the party, although they would not confirm that Smith had been stabbed. (The team confirmed Smith suffered "minor injuries.")

All three victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

"There was a lot of confusion. People heard gunshots, people heard commotion, but nobody saw where it came from. Nobody saw anyone stab anyone," Cardoza said. "We don't know if it was one person responsible or more than one person responsible for the three victim injuries."

Smith thanked his well wishers on Twitter over the weekend. He was trying to break up a fight when he reportedly was stabbed, according to Comcast SportsNet Bay Area.
