Chad Ochocinco always has enjoyed a light-hearted relationship with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, a man he affectionately has referred to as "Dad" on multiple occasions.
On Monday, the Miami Dolphins wide receiver again was talking paternal, playfully warning Goodell on Twitter he's going to have his hands full this season.
@nflcommish Dad... I love u but I will be a problem this year.. all fine money this year can be collected from @MiamiDolphins ?#management
- Chad Johnson (@ochocinco) June 25, 2012
We're sure there's somebody out there who will write about how Ochocinco should quit joking and concentrate on learning the Dolphins' playbook, or some other such nonsense. But in an offseason that has been saturated with dour news about Goodell, this temporary bit of levity is welcome.
Besides, if Goodell comes down on Ochocinco next season, it likely will be for repeated excessive celebration following touchdowns. We're sure the Dolphins gladly would foot the bill in that case.
One more bit of trenchant Ochocinco news: As you see in the tweet above, he's been working his birth name back into the rotation of late. Chad Johnson officially became Chad Ochocinco in 2008, but he recently has discussed changing it back in an attempt to channel his mid-aughts mojo.
But, citing a source close to the player, NFL.com's Steve Wyche reported Monday that Ochocinco hasn't changed his last name back to Johnson, nor does he plan to do so.
So there's that.
