Matt Hasselbeck expected to beat Locker for Titans job

This week's Tennessee Titans mandatory minicamp gives us a chance to take a closer look at the most intriguing quarterback battle in the league: Matt Hasselbeck vs. Jake Locker.

Unlike most battles, the Titans have two promising options. Unlike most teams with a quarterback battle, the Titans have enough talent to win their division.

Titans coach Mike Munchak has called it an even competition all offseason. The snaps are split up 50-50. Yet no one around the Titans thinks Locker will win despite his draft pedigree and impressive spot play last offseason.

David Climer of the Tennessean wrote Wednesday that rumors of a true battle have been "exaggerated."

"I suspect Hasselbeck is solidly ahead of Locker entering the final minicamp sessions," Climer writes, later simply stating that Hasselbeck "is the quarterback."

Munchak hinted that the team's tough early schedule could be a factor in his choice. He could play it safe with Hasselbeck early in the year. Climer isn't the only one that feels this way.

ESPN's Adam Schefter predicted Hasselbeck will get the job. Former Titans beat writer Paul Kuharsky predicted Hasselbeck will get the job. Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean expects Hasselbeck to win.

So either Hasselbeck is going to be the Week 1 starter for the Titans or a whole lot of people with inside access to the Titans are going to be wrong.
