Matt Forte would like you to know his knee is feeling just fine, thank you very much.
100Lbs sled up hill i think my knee will be ok RT @nfl: Bears concerned with Matt Forte's knees: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/090 ⦠http://twitvid.com/OPVBZ- Matt Forte (@MattForte22) May 26, 2012
Sure enough, the video shows Forte sprinting up a hill with a rope and weight attached to his waist. He moves quickly up the grassy incline as miniature dogs bark just off-screen. All in all, it seems like a pretty decent place to spend a Memorial Day weekend.
The report, which originated in the Chicago Tribune, stated that the Bears are privately concerned arthritis could set in, leading to a chronic problem for the 26-year-old back.
Forte's home conditioning methods certainly don't make it seem like he's treating his knees like pieces of fine china. Forte's agent, Adisa Bakari, felt compelled to speak out on the issue.
"Matt Forte is among the most, if not the most, durable, all-purpose running back in the NFL," Bakari told the Chicago Sun-Times. "The 2011 season was the first season of his career that he missed any games. Had the Bears been playoff contenders, he could have returned for the balance of the season. To question his durability at this stage in his career is absurd."
Forte probably believed his consistent production on the field had long since answered any questions about his durability. It has to be frustrating to worry that might not be enough.
