Tom Coughlin No. 1 in coaches power rankings

It's not the first football list we've seen this offseason and it won't be the last, but when Sporting News ranked NFL head coaches from top to bottom on Thursday, it brought back memories of Super Bowl XLVI.

Tom Coughlin has beaten Bill Belichick once again. It's another mountaintop moment (OK, maybe hilltop moment in this case) for the New York Giants coach, who endured whispers that he was on the hot seat last season before Big Blue embarked on its postseason run.

Around the League is planning to release our coaching rankings down the road (contain your excitement). For now, here's how Sporting News drew up its top five:

1. Tom Coughlin, New York Giants
2. Bill Belichick, New England Patriots
3. Mike McCarthy, Green Bay Packers
4. Mike Tomlin, Pittsburgh Steelers
5. John Harbaugh, Baltimore Ravens

While we’re at it, the bottom five (tough to be the new kid around these parts):

28. Greg Schiano, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
29. Chuck Pagano, Indianapolis Colts
30. Joe Philbin, Miami Dolphins
31. Dennis Allen, Oakland Raiders
32. Joe Vitt, New Orleans Saints

Giants fans, Patriots fans, lovers, haters: Tell us what you think.
