Danny Coale suffers broken foot at Cowboys OTAs

Dallas Cowboys rookie receiver Danny Coale suffered a broken bone in his foot during the first day of organized team activities, a source close to the situation confirmed on Tuesday.

Specifically, Coale broke the fifth metatarsal in his left foot, the source said, an ailment that could hold him out for a month. This would put his availability for mandatory minicamp in jeopardy. Coale was spotted by a reporter for DallasCowboys.com icing his foot and undergoing an MRI. The team's practice was not open to reporters.

A fifth-round pick out of Virginia Tech, Coale impressed NFL.com personnel guru Gil Brandt with his speed and hands. Brandt calling him a "move-the-chains" type of receiver who does many things well.

Dallas has had some bad luck with its draft picks. Linebacker Kyle Wilber, a fourth-round pick, broke his index finger in rookie minicamp and cornerback Morris Claiborne, the sixth overall pick, will be out for OTAs as he recovers from torn wrist ligaments.
