The Green Bay Packers have signed first-round draft pick Nick Perry, the team said Friday.

Terms of the deal with the linebacker, who was the 28th overall pick in last month's NFL draft, weren't disclosed.

Perry played defensive end in college at USC and will play outside linebacker for the Packers in their 3-4 defense.

Perry joins a Packers team that despite finishing 15-1 last season was worst in the league in yards allowed, surrendering an average of 411.6 yards per game. The team selected defenders with the first six of its eight total picks.

"Right now, I know that we need help, obviously, on defense," Perry said as the team's rookie minicamp opened. "But I'm just excited the opportunity is here, and I just want to take advantage of it any way I can."

"I can't really say that I'm going to be the savior, but I'm going to put my best foot forward to help the situation," Perry added.

Perry was the last of the Packers' draft picks to sign a contract.
