Darrelle Revis doesn't want to talk about his contract, although he won't promise that he'll show up to training camp on time.
"I can't sit here and answer that question right now...I'm not even thinking about it," the New York Jets cornerback said, via The Star-Ledger. "If that situation comes up Mike Tannenbaum will handle it and my agents will handle it."
Of course, that situation will only come up if Revis' agent brings it up. Revis has two years left on his four-year deal and he says he's "cool" with it. And that it was for a fair price "at the time." Revis was far more willing to talk about his general distaste for Bill Belichick and Tom Brady.
On calling Bill Belichick a "jerk" previously: "That's how I felt and that's how I feel. They told me to sum it up and I gave one word."
He also said Belichick's comments about the Jets are often "ignorant" and "too personal" and "disrespectful."
When asked what specifically Belichick said ...
"The one talking about the best defense they can s--- my d--- … all that stuff," Revis said. "That's just ignorant. Why go there? You won fair and square. We shook your hand after the game. We'll see you in New England or wherever in the playoffs. That's OK, but when you start saying stuff like that it gets too personal. You don't have to say that. Did anybody else say anything like that? No, not from our side."
Revis was referring to a comment allegedly made by Belichick after a 37-16 Patriots victory at MetLife Field in 2011. According to the New York Post, the coach said: "Thirty-seven points on the best defense in the league, s--- my d---," after the game ended.
Revis also backed up Antonio Cromartie's comments about Tom Brady being an "---hole" a few years ago. "Sometimes he (does act like that) on the field."
This all feels like premature trash talking. Why is this coming up in the middle of May? The Jets need to save their good stuff for the season. Peaking too early has been a problem for them lately.
