Terrell Suggs: I could return from Achilles injury by midseason

Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs has torn his Achilles and his 2012 season now is in jeopardy, a source with knowledge of the situation said Thursday. Suggs, however, said via text message, the injury is a partial tear and that he is aiming to return to the field by midseason.

Suggs was working out and doing drills in Arizona, which is his normal offseason plan. It's a huge blow for the pass-rush hungry Ravens, who will be without the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

Suggs said that a previous ESPN report stating the injury occurred while he was playing basketball is "false."

The linebacker was maintaining his usual offseason workout routine in Arizona, his home. "We have a conditioning test, and I was practicing for it," Suggs said via text.

He said he felt the injury during a "stop-and-go" exercise. He will visit a specialist on Tuesday.
