The report: New England inquired with Seattle to see what it would cost to move up to the No. 12 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. Breer got the information from sources with "direct knowledge of the situation."
A short time later, NFL Network reporter Stacey Dales sent this missive over Twitter from Foxborough:
Pats tell me there has been NO discussion with seattle about the 12th pick. Not with Coach, Caserio, or anyone else.

Caserio later went on the record to say they have not spoken to the Seahawks. We have two excellent reporters with high-placed sources telling us opposite information. What exactly is going on here?
As Bucky Brooks wrote Thursday, this is misinformation season. The closer you get to the draft, the harder it is to know a team's true intentions.
We contacted both reporters for context. Breer got the information from multiple sources with direct knowledge of the trade talks. Dales reports the Patriots are "open for business" for trades, but the team specifically and vehemently denies speaking with the Seahawks.
There are so many agendas at play with every item of news that you end up reading. This is just an example where competing agendas played in public for everyone to read.
