Eagles' Howie Roseman: We reached for need in past

Howie Roseman has been the Philadelphia Eagles' general manager for just two years, but they have been two tumultuous years. The young executive isn't afraid to be self-critical and admit his mistakes.

Speaking to the Philadelphia media Thursday, Roseman came up with a few:

  1. The team has overrated combine results a little too much the last few years.
  1. The team has put too much stock into the Senior Bowl as well.
  1. And the Eagles will take the best player on the board after possibly reaching for need of late.

Well, those are basically three of the biggest mistakes a team can make in the draft. And the last two years of Eagles results aren't pretty, despite a few hits in the latter rounds last season (Jason Kelce, Brian Rolle).

Every draft is big, but the Eagles are really feeling the pressure this year. Three consecutive weak drafts can cripple a franchise for years to come.
