Oakland Raiders running back Darren McFadden was in the midst of a breakout season before a Lisfranc injury cut his 2011 short.

Even if it's just for voluntary workouts, McFadden's 2012 is off to a good start.

Raiders coach Dennis Allen said Tuesday that McFadden was able to go through all drills during the team's first day of workouts.

"He's one of our most explosive players on offense," Allen said. "He's a dangerous weapon. We're looking forward to finding different ways of using him and kind of exploiting his talents."

McFadden, who the Raiders drafted No. 4 overall in 2008, was sidelined for nine games because of his injury. Prior to going down, he was among the league leaders in rushing with 614 yards and a 5.4 yards-per-carry average after seven games.

McFadden has missed 19 games in four seasons because of various injuries. He has yet to play with quarterback Carson Palmer, who made his debut with the Raiders later in the game last year that McFadden hurt his foot.
