Inside the 2012 Schedule

If Washington determines that likely draft pick Robert Griffin III is ready to start immediately, he'll get a doozy of a debut against the Saints in Week 1. The first truly nasty stretch of RG3's career looks like it will begin in Week 7 with a trip to play the Giants; it includes matchups with the Steelers, Panthers, Eagles, Cowboys, Giants (again) and Ravens.

3 Key Moments
Week 12 at Cowboys
The Redskins were swept by their rivals in games they could've won last season. If Washington is to get back to playing .500 ball, it starts with closing out games. The two failures to Dallas -- an 18-16 road loss and 27-24 OT debacle at home -- typified a frustrating 5-11 season.
Week 14 vs. Ravens
The first thing any struggling team must do is win home games. While Baltimore is surely a better squad, how much confidence would it give the entire organization -- and presumably RG3 -- if the Redskins could claim their region of the country against the superior Ravens? This would be a huge W.
Week 15 at Browns
Cleveland is the easiest road game on Mike Shanahan's schedule. But if Colt McCoy, who the Browns seemingly were ready to dump if they could get RG3, outplays the Baylor rookie and destroys Washington, the future would start to look ominous for the Shanahan regime. Cleveland is a weak opponent that the Redskins have to handle.
