Tebow participated in the Tim Tebow Foundation Celebrity Golf Classic at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., this weekend. The event included a gala Friday night, at which the donation was made. The money will go to support the Tim Tebow Foundation.

"It was incredible," Tebow told the newspaper. "It's humbling. You don't feel worthy, but when people care about your cause and know that you're trying to do something for other people, it's amazing to see what can happen."

Also Friday, Tebow told Newsday that he's looking forward to working with incumbent starting quarterback Mark Sanchez when the Jets begin their voluntary workout program next week.

"I've been in contact with Mark, and he's a great guy, we've got a great relationship," Tebow said. "We'll look forward to seeing each other on Monday."

After the event ended Saturday, Tebow said he was encouraged to see people attending in Jets gear.

"Obviously the Jets fans are very passionate," Tebow said, according to Newsday, "and then to also have some of my fans out here who were incredibly supportive was just great."

Tebow told Newsday that he's going to travel to New York on Sunday, "and it'll be all ball from here," adding that he'll arrive at the team's facility "early" Monday.

Though the tournament was played in Florida, Tebow told Newsday that PGA star Bubba Watson "was the only person who said anything to me" about not being traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Tebow was traded from the Broncos to the Jets after Denver landed quarterback Peyton Manning in March.
