Matt Light hasn't announced whether he plans to retire. However, one New England Patriots lineman said Saturday he's ready to assume Light's spot protecting Tom Brady's blindside if Light calls it quits.
"Well, I feel like that is the reason I was brought here, to eventually be the starter, and that's great. I'm excited about that," Solder said, adding that he has not spoken with Light since the Patriots' loss to the Giants in Super Bowl XLVI.
Solder, speaking at an event honoring New England Pop Warner football players, said one of the main things he needs to improve this offseason is his technique.
"My sole drive was not to be a disappointment," Solder said, "so I hope I wasn't a disappointment. But it continues on, you know, I have to get better next year too."
