With the courting of Peyton Manning about to shift into hyper drive, Andy Reid sure doesn't sound like a man about to enter the bidding war for the star quarterback's services.
"We're obviously happy with Michael (Vick)," Reid told the Philadelphia Daily News this week. "You could ask that question of probably everybody in the National Football League except the Giants, right? ... That's not something we're -- we're happy with Michael."
Reid did acknowledge that he spent time with Robert Griffin III, the electrifying Baylor quarterback widely expected to go second in next month's draft. Would the Eagles consider moving up in a trade with the Rams for the No. 2 spot?
"I was impressed with him. He did a nice job in our interview. Good kid, smart," Reid said, but suggested that Philly's not planning to make a run for the young gun.
Other topics in Reid's wide-ranging interview with the Daily News:
⢠We get it. Soon-to-be free agent Plaxico Burress is interested in continuing his career with the Eagles, where he cites his friendship with Michael Vick and the team's high-powered offense as plus points. Reid is aware of Plaxico's pitch, but "hasn't gone there" in terms of imagining him on the roster. Reid spoke with Burress last summer after his release from prison, and said the Jets wideout was in better shape than a post-big house Vick was in 2009.
The newspaper indicated Reid was surprised by Plaxico's production with the Jets last season (45 catches for 612 yards and eight touchdowns), which might lead to a deeper look come March 13.
