With Peyton Manning's expected release from the Colts on tap, make no mistake: Teams will come calling.
One team, the Seahawks, plan to come out "checkbook blazing" for Manning, ESPN New York reported Tuesday, citing a league source.
Indeed, the Seahawks were among the initial group of suitors that NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora and NFL Network's Albert Breer have reported in recent days. Along with the Seahawks, the Cardinals, Dolphins, Jets, Redskins have been reported to have interest. La Canfora also reported that the Chiefs and even the Broncos have been mentioned as possible destinations for the five-time All-Pro.
The million-dollar question is whether Manning can pass a physical and actually return to form, but Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney told NFL Network on Tuesday that even if the quarterback isn't 100 percent, he's worth the risk.
"I think that an 80 percent Peyton is better than a lot of 100 percents out there. People will see that," Freeney said. "I guess the question really is: Can he play the whole entire season? Does one hit all of a sudden bring him back? I don't know. But I definitely am wishing him the best, and I know whatever team that takes a chance on him, they'll be pleased."
