Jets' Slauson played with torn labrum, rotator cuff last year

New York Jets guard Matt Slauson played last season with a a torn labrum, rotator cuff and biceps in his left arm, he revealed Thursday.

"I knew something was wrong, but I was like, 'OK, I'll keep on playing as long as I can play,' and I was able to get through it all," Slauson said, according to The Star-Ledger. "I felt like I had a fairly successful year personally with it. So I'm really excited about next year without having pain."

Slauson did not know when he sustained the injuries because he never had doctors examine his shoulder. He first hurt his shoulder in a late regular-season game against the New England Patriots in 2010 but played through the pain.

Slauson said he is still recovering after offseason surgery and likely will be limited in team organized activities, but he expects to be fully healed by training camp.

The third-year guard also brushed aside the various rifts in the Jets' locker room last season.

"We're not worried about all the drama that happened last year," Slauson said. "We've got enough to deal with with all the new coaches and stuff. When we come back, we have to learn a new offense. So I'm not worrying about any of the stuff that happened last year, I'm just focusing on winning a Super Bowl."
