The New England Patriots re-signed receiver Tiquan Underwood Tuesday after cutting him the night before Super Bowl XLVI, the team announced.

Underwood was released so that the team could promote defensive end Alex Silvestro, who did not see the field Sunday, from their practice squad. Underwood would still have received a Super Bowl ring if the Patriots had won on Sunday.

Underwood finished 2011 with three receptions for 30 yards.
