The Bears fired longtime GM Jerry Angelo shortly after finishing an 8-8 season. The team will introduce Emery, the organization's fifth GM in team history, as Angeloâs successor at a 2 p.m. ET news conference Monday.
Emery has ties to the Bears, entering the NFL as an area scout for the organization from 1998-2004. He later served as director of college scouting with the Falcons from 2004-08 before working as a regional scout for Atlanta leading up to the 2009 NFL Draft. Emery then joined the Chiefs, where he spent the past three seasons.
Emery was one of five candidates to interview for the position, along with Licht, San Diego Chargers director of player personnel Jimmy Raye, New York Giants director of college scouting Marc Ross and Bears director of player personnel Tim Ruskell.
