They have been talking for weeks about Haley rejoining Arizona's staff after he was fired as the Chiefs' coach. The Cardinals have an opening for a quarterbacks coach.

Things cooled off some when other offensive coordinator jobs opened up, and Arizona explored other options with former Oakland Raiders coach Hue Jackson and former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Bruce Arians. However, a deal for Haley now could come together.

Haley was the Cardinals' offensive coordinator in 2007 and 2008 before the Chiefs hired him away. He has coached in the NFL since 1997, holding various positions with the New York Jets, Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys.

When Haley was in Arizona, Kurt Warner was the quarterback. The situation is different there now, with Kevin Kolb and John Skelton combining to lead the Cardinals to an 8-8 finish this season.
