Dolphins coach Philbin considers Bengals' Coyle for DC role

Kevin Coyle, the Cincinnati Bengals defensive backs coach, is under consideration for the Miami Dolphins' defensive coordinator position, according to a league source.

The Dolphins might choose to retain Todd Bowles on staff in that capacity, but he is exploring other options after serving as Miami's interim head coach this season.

Joe Philbin, Miami's new head, thinks highly of Coyle's abilities, however, and he remains a candidate for the job.

The Dolphins, of course, interviewed Mike Zimmer, the Bengals' defensive coordinator and a mentor to Coyle, for the head-coaching position that went to Philbin. Zimmer remains a candidate for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' head-coaching job.
