The St. Louis Rams and coach Jeff Fisher have made another high-profile addition to their staff with the hiring of Brian Schottenheimer as their new offensive coordinator, a league source told NFL Network's Michael Lombardi on Saturday.

Contract negotiations between the Rams and Schottenheimer were scheduled to begin Saturday afternoon, a league source told NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora, and the deal should be completed in short order.

La Canfora had reported this week, citing a league source, that Fisher interviewed recently fired Oakland Raiders coach Hue Jackson for the vacant coordinator's position.

Schottenheimer ran the New York Jets' offense for six years, a unit that often failed to live up to expectations. The Jets hired former Miami Dolphins coach Tony Sparano to replace Schottenheimer, who will get a chance to coach against his old team next season when the Rams host the Jets.

Schottenheimer joins a staff that added former New Orleans Saints assistant coach Gregg Williams as its defensive coordinator.

La Canfora reported Saturday that Fisher and Williams also have sons who are joining the staff. Also, the Rams are hiring Paul Boudreau, formerly of the Atlanta Falcons, as offensive line coach, and Mike Waufle, formerly of the Raiders, as defensive line coach.

The Rams' coaching staff is assembled in St. Louis, interviewing candidates and working on filling out the remaining voids.
